The quotes we present include all product costs, importing expenses and charges related to delivering to the final destination(s). No after delivery invoices from anyone.

The most common misconception about importing is: I can’t do it offshore because I don’t need a 20’ container full of merchandise. WRONG! The thing that makes it worthwhile is the opportunity to work offshore and many orders can be consolidated into containers permitting smaller quantity orders. Just about anything can be imported. the prime obstacles are time and the myriad of fixed importing fees. The quotes AdArt presents, include every cost to import to the USA Mainland Seaport and standard ground freight fees to the final destination.
Time to Import
The standard time to allow for imported products is:
- Sourcing the correct product 1-3 business days
- 7-14 days for a pre-production sample after receipt of Purchase order, Artwork and Deposit
- 15-45 days for mass production after approval of sample (can be longer if custom molds are required)
- 12-15 days Sea transit to West Coast USA
- 3-7 days US Customs clearance
- Standard ground transit time to final destination.
Each product has its own time line and should be verified to get the correct facts.
When To Import
Scheduling is the finest gauge of importing. If your client calls you on Day 1 and needs an item on Day 25, do not risk your credibility as a vendor with the client. This is the time to rely upon the ASI and PPAI suppliers in the USA.
When Not To Import
Patented products are not to be considered unless you are working with the Patent Holder or approved licensee and can prove it. US Customs has the charge of protecting US Properties from pirated patent copies. If the product has a patent, check to see if it is a Utility or Design patent. Utility patents are only importable with permission. If the product has a registered logo or trademark, be prepared to have the client provide a letter of authorized use. This is simply a typed right of permission on their Letterhead.
